Nicolás de Fülöp was born in 1988 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Nicolás has always been interested in drawing but it was during his teenage years that he became curious about other techniques, such as airbrush, spray can (graffiti) and hyperrealist painting.

After graduating from high school, he had a unique insight into the world of fine european paintings and antiques while working in the family business in San Telmo, Buenos Aires. This experience made him keen on late 19th century paintings including Impressionism. Furthermore it gave him first-hand access to another era in Art, with a different sense of aesthetics and knowledge about the auction market. He then decided to study Fine Art & Antiques Expertise and also realized he wanted to learn how to paint from life and “en plein air” (outdoors) but needed further academic training. So he took lessons with artists Damián Kaliyeski and Dulcie Sturla for a traditional approach in oil painting. At this point, Nicolás began developing his own technique by capturing scenes of Olivos, his neighbourhood.

Later Nicolás announced his first solo exhibition in Buenos Aires and in the same year 2015 he travelled to the U.S.A. hosted by Philadelphia-based artist Charles Cushing, where he created about 20 paintings. The following year he decided to move to London.

Nicolás agrees with writer Jorge Luis Borges on the following reflection: Painting is meant to express emotions which can´t be expressed in a different way. So Contemporary Painting should be considered as genuine and valid as any Painting from the past, as long as it´s crafted with emotions.

Nicolás has created more than 400 artworks so far (mostly oil paintings), some of which are in private collections in Argentina, United States, United Kingdom, Norway, Spain and Kenya. He currently resides in Madrid, Spain.
